POLICE in Northumberland have taken to the roads in the latest stage of a six-month crimefight drive.

After last month's arrest days which saw almost 40 held, officers are now using marked and unmarked vehicles with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology to help identify suspects and scan thousands of car details every hour.

In the first weekend of the operation, cars patrolled throughout the county and 107 vehicles were stopped.
