Prudhoe tissue factory fire
A fire broke out in a Prudhoe tissue factory last night, causing an emergency response from across the district into the early hours of Monday.
The Fire Brigade was alerted at 11.02pm to a fire in SCA Hygiene, Princess Way, and sent three fire engines.
But crews quickly requested another two. Engines from Prudhoe, Hexham, Tyne and Wear and Ponteland were all then at the scene.
Firefighters checked roof voids, searching for the heart of the fire, but by midnight were still examing the building. The Brigade says they made one drier safe.
