<p>Northumberland County Council produced a video (below) to raise awareness of the facilities available to people wanting to know more about their ancestors.</p>

<p>It was uploaded onto internet video sharing site YouTube and has got more than 12,000 hits.</p>]]></description>

            <title>Video: Recycling in Northumberland</title>

<p>The tutorial video (watch below) shows Northumberland County Council's new recycling centre in action and helps residents understand what can and can't be put into the recycling bin.</p>

<p>In Northumberland the council is responsible for collecting waste from more than 140,000 households as well as thousands of business premises. </p>]]></description>

<p>One of Northumberland's most historic events - the Ovingham Goose Fair - once again attracted hundreds of people with its centuries-old entertainment.</p>

<p>A procession of dancers, local tradespeople and children in colourful fancy dress passed through the village at 1pm on Saturday.</p>]]></description>

<p>The Norman Castle and the 19th-century Prudhoe Hall are well-known landmarks from the past, but the town is also known now for the large and modern industrial estate that sees hundreds of people employed on the banks of the Tyne.</p>

<p>The Journal's photographic archives reflect that history, with intriguing shots of the old ICI chemical works in the 1950s and pictures of the town's Front Street in 1973.</p>]]></description>
